Challenge Day will be held on Thurs., Oct. 27. Many students and staff will participate in the event in the main gym for the entire school day.

“Challenge Day is an all inclusive day of unifying activities that helps us look at our peers in a different light,” senior Jaylynne Lewis said.

Challenge Day is a day that breaks stereotypes and is designed to inspire students to embrace the diversity of our community. The entire Tempe Union High School District is participating in the event. Oct 27 is day for MHS students and staff to open their eyes and make positive changes to their everyday lives. But, the event is by invitation and application only.

“We recognize that not every student feels like a Charger. We see that there are students who are not in clubs, sports, or even fine arts, but this is a way for them to meet new people and possibly new friends,” Activities Vice Principle Molly Saddler said.

“It is a very cleansing experience,” Lewis said.

Challenge Day lets everyone realize that the random person you pass by in the hallway and that one girl from your math class has a story and is a person. Students involved come to recognize that everyone is human and other people are going through things too.

Those who have not participated in challenge day before are advised to break out of their shell and to be open and honest during the day. This is about trust and getting to know the student body around you. The Challenge Day program will also now be doing activities outside of the TUHSD at the request of students and staff. This is in hopes these events will make a positive impact on our generation.

Challenge Day is a day to advocate for positivity, open mindedness, and trust.
