The foreign exchange program at McClintock provides teens in different countries with an opportunity to attend an Arizona high school and learn English or get a better education. Andrea Saenz is one of those foreign exchange students.

High school is filled with different personalities. Some people are very kind and friendly and others are more introverted around people.

“There are mean people and nice people,“ Andrea Saenz said.

In all of one’s classes it’s considered wise to make sure you’re getting along with your classmates and treated with kindness.

“I got very good classmates; they have been very nice to me, “ Andrea Saenz said.

Foreign exchange students get to choose the amount of time they stay in the program. They can stay for two years or six months. It all depends on why they’re attending.

“I’m going to stay until January,“ Andrea Saenz said.

Each foreign exchange student attends school in America for different reasons. Some are here to receive a better education or just to learn English for the future.

“I already graduated, and I don’t need to stay. I’m just here to learn, “ Andrea Saenz said.

Some students choose to move to America later on in their life. Others choose to stay at home with their family.

“I will go back because my family is over there, and I need to study [in] college. Here it’s very expensive [for] foreign students,“ Andrea Saenz said.
