Film and Newspaper program wins at AIPA conference
December 8, 2022
McClintock’s Film and TV class and our Newspaper Club ventured to the Arizona Interscholastic Press Association’s Fall Convention on November 15th, 2022. The convention was held for the first time since 2019. Students from many different schools, sharing an interest in journalism, news, and content creation, came to Arizona State University to hear from a variety of speakers.
After students chose which of the scheduled sessions they wanted to go to, guest speakers shared the experiences they have had working in their careers. Students asked questions and interacted with the guests to gain a direct and personalized understanding of their work.
Students regrouped to hear from a final guest speaker, reporter and sports anchor Lina Washington. Before the conference concluded, students listened for their school’s name as the AIPA State Awards winners were announced.
McClintock had several winners this year — congratulations to Jacob Burrola and Dylan Murillo for Honorable Mention: Short Film, Mia Phielipp for Honorable Mention: Graphics & Effects, and Chloe Bolen for Honorable Mention: Music Video, Excellent: PSA, and Superior: Promo.
