McClintock High School is now home to a new turf football field.

The field, located in Jim Lyons Stadium, is decorated with the phrase “Home of the Chargers” on both the home and away sides of the field, sporting the school colors of red and blue. The field was installed over the summer.

McClintock joins several other schools in the Tempe Union High School District who have made the swap to an artificial turf field, including Ahwatukee schools Mountain Point and Desert Vista, and cross-town rival Tempe High.

McClintock fans will get to see the field in action at the first varsity home football game of the 2021-2022 season on Sept. 3, 2021 at 7 p.m. where the Chargers will face the Saguaro Sabercats. An official field dedication ceremony will take place on Oct. 1, 2021, when the Chargers face Scottsdale’s Desert Mountain Wolves.
