McClintock’s HOSA club traveled to Tucson last week to compete at the State Leadership Conference, and several students made top ranks.

Students had to take an online test and rank in the top 25% of the state testers to make it to state. Of the 12 students who ranked, 7 cracked the top 5 of their events.

These are the results:

  • Grace Paul, Mayari Merchant, Mariska Bogaard, and Nisha Reddy – HOSA Bowl, placed in the top 10.
  • Leah Nelson – Nutrition
  • Naat’anii Castillo – Transcultural Healthcare – 5th Place
  • Harshini Venkatachalam – Epidemiology – 5th Place
  • Ikumi Ellis & Elizabeth Cheng – Forensic Science – 1st Place
  • Casandra Gomez, Sachi Sengupta, & Jacob Organek – Existing Medical Innovations – 1st Place

The two teams that took 1st will be able to travel to Orlando this summer and compete in Internationals.

“They did such great work,” said Brittany Burchard, McClintock biology and biotechnology teacher and HOSA sponsor said. “I have truly enjoyed working with these kids.”
