Speech & Debate charges ahead at Dobson Tournament

McClintock’s Speech & Debate team competed at the 30th annual Dobson Invitational on Sat., Nov. 21, 2015. Numerous members placed in a variety of events, and the team also placed first in team sweepstakes, a measure of overall team performance.

The team members’ individual placings are as follows:

In Dramatic Interpretation:

Junior Justin Roth placed second.

In Humorous Interpretation:

Junior Ben Pope placed third.

Sophomore Michael Bernard placed second.

In Duo Interpretation:

The team of Bernard and sophomore Vincent Gomez placed first.

The team of senior Jada Keyser and senior Whitney Kubal placed third.

The team of senior Makoto Hunter and Pope placed fourth.

In Expository Speaking:

Junior Bob Chen placed third.

Senior Jacque Lyman placed sixth.

Sophomore Louis Pratt was a semifinalist.

In Extemporaneous Speaking:

Senior Roman Shemakov placed first.

Sophomore Matthew Flores was a semifinalist.

In Impromptu Speaking:

Shemakov placed second.

In House One Congressional Debate:

Pope placed second.

Hunter placed third.

In House Three Congressional Debate:

Shemakov placed second.

In House Four Congressional Debate:

Junior Erin Granillo-Walker placed second.

Junior Noah Contreras placed sixth.

In Duet Acting:

The team of sophomore Siam Hunter and freshman Angela Zurhaar placed sixth.

In Program Oral Interpretation:

Sophomore Wesley Minniear placed third.

Senior Alexis Kunke placed fourth.

In Original Oratory:

Senior Jacque Lyman placed third.

Junior Skaya Penneau was a semifinalist.

In Poetry Interpretation:

Senior Hannah Parrish placed second.

Senior Hunavy Phan placed third.

In Prose Interpretation:
