The Academy Awards, or “Oscars”, is an annual American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements in the United States. The Oscars will be on 26th February 2017 and will be hosted this year by Jimmy Kimmel.

The nominations for the Awards have already gone public since Monday, January 23rd, and it pretty much what the predictions said before the announcement. Of course is almost everybody looking at the award for the “Best Actor/Actress”.

 

Nominations for “Best Actor”:

Casey Affleck – Manchester by the Sea as Lee Chandler

Andrew Garfield – Hacksaw Ridge as Desmond T. Doss

Ryan Gosling – La La Land as Sebastian Wilder

Viggo Mortensen – Captain Fantastic as Ben Cash

Denzel Washington – Fences as Troy Maxson

 

Nominations for “Best Actress”:

Isabelle Huppert – Elle as Michele Leblanc

Ruth Negga – Loving as Mildred Loving

Natalie Portman – Jackie as Jackie Kennedy

Emma Stone – La La Land as Mia Dolan

Meryl Streep – Florence Foster Jenkins as Florence Foster Jenkins

 

But you can’t only award the Actors and Actresses, somebody have to plan the Movie and therefor also the award for the “Best Director”:

Denis Villeneuve – Arrival

Mel Gibson – Hacksaw Ridge

Damien Chazelle – La La Land

Kenneth Lonergan – Manchester by the Sea

Barry Jenkins – Moonlight
