McClintock’s very own swim and dive team began training just a couple of weeks ago.

The swim season, which begins on Thurs., Sept. 1, will kick off a competitive start with a home meet against Higley.

“I’m hoping to go 6-0 for both the girl and boy teams, it should be exciting,” Timur Karamanov said.

The swim team will be competing in Division II this year, and are hoping to send more athletes to state in November. In order to qualify, swimmers have to get the cut at one of three invitationals.

High school state is where all your hard work shows,” Amanda Bley said. “You’re there with some of your best friends, it’s a great time.”

The team swims everyday after school and on Saturday mornings. That gives the swimmers a chance to focus and improve on their individual strokes.

Next week is time trials, where every athlete will swim all of the events and determine what it is they want to focus on at dual meets.

“I’m looking forward to the meets the most,” Francisco Arroyo said.
