McClintock Begins Accreditation with AdvancED

McClintock has started the process of accreditation this year with AdvancED, a non-profit organization that reviews how schools function through surveys and inspections.

“AdvancED makes sure that the McClintock Diploma means something to Universities,” Vice Principal Bill Hazel said.

Students and Teachers took a survey earlier this week that will help show to AdvancED and McClintock what students and teachers feel most needs to be improved upon.

“The surveys that students took helps us determine what needs to be changed,” math teacher Lindsay Miller said. “If one area scores low on the survey, that is something that we need to improve.”

Later in the school year, people from AdvancED will come in to evaluate teaching procedures, classroom environments, and give tips to McClintock on how to improve.

“Students are normally taught by teachers at McClintock High School. Now, AdvancED is teaching McClintock to better teach students” Hazel said.

This process takes place every four years to ensure that schools do not just function well, but that they continue to improve.

On AdvancED’s website they state, “Our goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, our commitment is to help schools improve.”

20% of parents must also take this survey online at McClintock’s Webpage. It is 42 questions and the deadline for submitting a survey is on September 15th.
