This past summer, Tempe Sister Cities held yet another successful summer program. The exchange allowed 27 Tempe students to travel to another country for 3 weeks, and then the students returned home with their exchange siblings for 3 more weeks. The cities involved with the program included:
- Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia
- Zhenjiang, China
- Regensburg, Germany
- Beaulieu sur Mer, France
- Carlow, Ireland
- Lower Hutt, New Zealand
- Cusco, Peru
- Cuenca, Ecuador
- Trollhattan, Sweden
- Timbuktu, Mali
The students kept busy throughout the summer, and once everyone returned home the itinerary was packed. As a group of 55, the delegates traveled to the Grand Canyon to hike and tent-camp. Later on, the group took a trip to California to see the beach and Disneyland. Students also had the opportunity to see a Diamondbacks baseball game, make tie-dye, volunteer at Feed My Starving Children, and much more. Lifelong friendships were made and the chaotic combination of nationalities and accents made the program an entirely unique experience.
Interested students should check out the Tempe Sister Cities website and wait for applications for the 2025 program to release. To be eligible, students must be current high school juniors and live in Tempe.
