New AP history class offered

AP European History is a new class that will be offered next year if enough students register for it.

“We figured that if we could get two classes of kids to sign up for AP Psych, another course that provides just an elective credit, then we could maybe get enough kids for AP European History.” Assistant Principal, Academics Bill Hazel said.

This course is primarily directed at juniors and seniors who have a great interest in social studies and would like to receive college credit for doing so.

“I would love to take AP European History because I have an interest in teaching history later on, so an extra history class would help me down that path.” freshman Seth Garcia said.

While other classes (like AP World) have a sizeable portion of their class dedicated to European History, AP European History will go much more in depth into the history of Europe.

“In World History, the effects of WWII in Europe may only be focused on for a couple days, while in European History this same topic may last a week or two to really analyze Europe.” Hazel said.

AP European History ordinarily does not have enough students to become a class, but it’s very possible that this year that outcome could be different.
