Sydney Hunter and Mike Gossen Speak in Mesa Game On Expo over Game Development

Independent game developers Sydney Hunter and Mike Gossen were present at the Mesa Game on Expo from Aug. 29 through the 30.

“When we were young we loved those old consoles, and we wanted those back, and we wanted to have some new games for them, so we made that happen,” Hunter said.

Since 2008, Sydney and his affiliates have produced over 50 games.

“I grew up with video games; I have pictures of me playing Pole Position in a racing helmet when I was young,” Gossen said.

Gossen is the co-owner of The Grid, where he encourages young developers to bring in their games for people to play.

“This is a very untapped area of the gaming world, and with some software knowledge and a good designing program, people could easily make this into a career,” Gossen said.

Nintendo is always looking for new game developers, and they are not the only ones.

“Don’t be afraid; the programming is easy to learn. So just jump in and start learning and get going. If you love games then make what you love,” Hunter said.
