Basketball senior night was slam dunk

Senior night is when coaches and fans get the chance to honor the graduating players. Boy’s basketball held senior night on Wed., Feb. 3 and the girl’s basket- ball senior night was Fri., Feb. 5.

“It’s an opportunity to be recognized on their last night in their home court,” Boys Coach Sam Dentz said.

The boy’s basketball team played against Westwood for their senior night.

“The moment that was a highlight for us was our win against Fairfax,” Dentz said.

The girls basketball team played against Skyline High School.

“It’s a great feeling knowing they have accomplished a great season. I’m not really excited to say goodbye, but I’m happy for them,” Girls Coach Sherre Walker said.

After senior night, the players walked out with their families and each stat- ed future goals out loud to their fans.

“I feel old, I’ve been playing since my freshman year and it’s truly a bless- ing,” senior Malique Washington said.

Encouraged by his late grandfather, Washington has been playing basketball since he was two years old.

“I feel accomplished, like I gave it my all during my four years here,” senior Kiana Clah said.

Clah has played basket- ball since she was nine years old and will continue to play.
