Girls Volleyball is wrapping up its season with an overall score of 5-8. McClintock’s last game will be away on Oct. 28 against Campo Verde.
Coach Jeff Dunn’s team had three returning varsity players. Dunn said that the team has improved throughout the season both in practice and in matches.
“In our section the team did very well. They play the best teams. The whole team worked very well together,” Coach Dunn said. “We are playing in the hardest section and division.”
Junior Katie Messer has been playing volleyball for five years and has enjoyed playing against people she knows through her club volleyball. Even though they lost to some hard teams, Messer knows the team has improved.
“The hardest part of practice is pushing myself harder.” Messer said. “Volleyball is fun, it’s a big part of my life, and I wouldn’t be the same person I am today.”
Many members of the team have been together for all four years.
“Its crazy to think that the majority of us have been playing together since our freshman year,” Senior Charlyne Long said. “I love how close we are and how we share so many laughs on and off the court.
Junior Ziah Lawrence has played volleyball for four years. She enjoyed the traditions that the players have at the beginning of each game. Every couple home games the team comes together and has a team dinner while the freshman and JV teams play their matches. Also, before each game varsity goes outside to play a couple team-building games like Ninja.
“The team is like my family,” Lawrence said.
Dunn has lost nine seniors again that have been with Coach Dunn for three years.
“Dunn is an awesome coach, he is the best coach I’ve ever had,” Messer said.
