The first game of football year starts off at home this Friday with McClintock and Carl Haydon at 7:00 p.m.
“We want our players to play hard, minimize mental mistakes, and simply do their very best,” Varsity football coach Matt Lewis said.
The team has been preparing since last year for the football season.
“The beginning of our training began last year in summer when we did weight lifting and speed, in June and July we did four days a week of conditioning and speed training,” Lewis said. “We started practice on August 4th on the first day of school with pads and actual equipment.”
It takes a lot of training before even getting to put on a helmet.
“It works out to about 300 hours of training before actually even putting on a helmet,” Lewis said.
The theme for this first game is a white out.
“The student section should be loud and be large,” Senior Amie Troutt said.
The football team is really excited for their first game.
“We want to go out there and have fun, hopefully win, and try our best,” Senior Jacob Garcia Stewart said.
They have also came close by training together.
“We are pretty close, family tight, real enthusiastic, and really hard workers,” Stewart said.
Students need to bring their I.D, and tickets three dollars. Freshman get in for free with their I.D, and if Link Crew leaders wear their shirt they also get in for free.
“Students should go because it good to support each other , and to create the atmosphere of McClintock,” Troutt said.
