The Speech and Debate team competed at the Mountainview Toro Country Classic Fri., Nov. 13 and Sat., Nov. 14 and was honored with the following awards.

Senior Roman Shemakov placed 2nd in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate, 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking, and tied for 2nd place in Individual Sweepstakes.

Junior Madison Reddie placed 2nd in Novice Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

The team of sophomore Eve Beresford and freshman Sadie Keyser placed 5th in Duo Interpretation.

The team of junior Ben Pope and senior Preston Makoto Hunter placed 2nd in Duo Interpretation.

Junior Emily Wescott placed 6th in Poetry Interpretation.

Senior Hannah Parrish placed 3rd in Poetry Interpretation.

Sophomore Vincent “Sweaters” Gomez placed 3rd in Program of Oral Interpretation.

Sophomore Michael Bernard placed 6th in Humorous Interpretation.

The team as a whole placed 2nd in Team Sweepstakes, a measure of how a team performs compared to all other teams at the tournament.
