Link crew is hosting their annual freshman tailgate on Fri., Sept., 25. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and end roughly around 7 p.m.

“[The most exciting part about the tailgate] is just seeing everyone interact and getting really excited for the first home game. It’s a white-out and the freshman are encouraged to wear all white and it’s fun for the link crew members to reconnect with their students,” Counselor Monica Griffin said.

Link crewmembers help set up the tailgate and make the freshmen feel welcomed to their first year of high school.

“ I expect a lot to happen at this tailgate. I hope the freshmen have a lot of fun, make new friends, and eat food,” junior Anna Trammel said.

The tailgate will be held in the student parking lot where there will be live music, food and fun games.

“Freshmen should attend the tailgate because I think it’ll be a lot of fun, plus it’s the first football home game. Its showing school spirit,” Trammel said.

The freshman tailgate is a great way to go about meeting new people and enjoying everyone’s company, and getting in the game for free is a bonus.

“For me, the most enjoyable thing is just hanging out with my friends and having fun,” Trammel said.

Freshman year is typically the scariest year because it has to dowith getting used to a new school and new people, but the tailgate is a way to get to know new people.

“I’m going to the freshman tailgate because it seems like it’s going to be fun, and become an experience to remember,” freshman Ricki Yarbrough said.

The key to having a fulfilling school year is to just get in the school spirit and enjoy every moment while it lasts.
