Rowen McLeod pursues stagecraft

Senior Rowen McLeod takes on the responsibility of being stage manager for the 2015-16 plays.

“I’ve been doing stagecraft since freshman year, and I do plan on doing this as a career,” McLeod said.

Although McLeod is interested in stage management it was not always like that; in elementary school, she would act.

“I used to act for a really long time—since preschool, actually. Once I played a Woodstock in Charlie Brown,” McLeod said.

As for some things you learn in school, stagecraft has helped Rowen with the years she spent here at McClintock.

“It made school so much better. I don’t think I would have enjoyed high school as much if I hadn’t found my place here. Cornwell is a great teacher; he is fun to get along with,” McLeod said.

Rowen has become grateful for discovering stagecraft, and for being stage manager.

“For me it was a really great experience because I found a place where I belong, where I fit in, where I really excelled with what I do. This class has made me feel useful in a lot of ways that I would not have. It gives me purpose,” McLeod said.

Despite being behind the scenes, McLeod has a lot of pride for her position and for her class.

“Theatre is a really magical place and sometimes what the audience really only sees is the magic of what the actors create, but a lot of magic happens behind the actors,” McLeod said.
