AzMERIT testing dates announced

During the 2015-2016 school year, the Writing AzMERIT will take place on April 11th and 12th, the Reading AzMERIT on April 21st and 22nd, and the Math AzMERIT on May 2nd and 3rd.

All students in freshman, sophomore, or junior English (including honors and AP courses) will be required to take the AzMERIT, regardless of the student’s actual grade level. All students in freshman English will take the ELA writing on Apr. 11, and ELA reading on Apr. 21. Approximately 225 students from the sophomore English classes will take ELA writing on Apr. 11, and ELA reading on Apr. 21. The other 225 students in sophomore classes will take ELA writing on Apr. 12, and ELA reading on Apr. 22. All junior English classes will take ELA writing on Apr. 12, and ELA reading on Apr. 22. These testing dates depend on students’ last name, not their teachers.

All students in algebra 1-2, geometry 1-2, algebra 3-4, academy advanced algebra, standard math 1-4 or the equivalent will be required to take the Math AzMERIT. All students in algebra will take the test on May 2nd, and all students in geometry will take it May 3rd. Students will be assigned a room from a list of testing rooms to take their test in. As April and May approach, teachers will have more information, as well as a finalized master bell schedule for these testing days. Students will receive their individual testing schedules and their testing room assignments in their 3rd hour classes. If for any reason, a student feels they should be exempt from the AzMERIT, they must see Mr. Hoffland. More information on the tests is also available from the counselors.
