Hosa pie in the face contest

In January, HOSA held a “Pie in the Face”  contest to raise money for Leukemia research.  Several teachers volunteered to participate, and students voted by depositing change for a particular teacher.  Orchestra teacher Doreen Press won and was “pied” at the Winter Assembly in January.

“We are raising money to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, and instead of having a basic change drive we thought we would try something new,” Bio-Tech  Teacher Brittany Burchard said.

HOSA works on different community service projects, and they study for State and National competitions.

“I had several staff members volunteer to potentially get a pie to the face at the pep rally on Friday, depending on the amount of money they raise,” Burchard said.

To join HOSA, start coming to the meetings at lunch. They are held every Wednesday in room 1207. HOSA is for people who are interested in going into a health profession.

“Work for competitions is already underway, so a student has to be here before second semester if they want to compete,” Burchard said. A student can join at any time to work on fundraising and community service.
