Campus Locks Down Security with New Skateboard Lockers

New skateboard lockers have now been placed near the bike racks. Students must keep skateboards in a locker.

“We got the lockers to keep skateboards, just like the bike racks, in one centralized location to house the skateboards because we don’t want them used as a weapon and we need to keep students and staff safe,” Assistant Principal of Activities Molly Saddler said.

If you have a skateboard that does not fit the locker you must leave it in the front office until the end of the school day.

“Right now we’re keeping the skateboards that don’t fit the lockers in the front office until we decide what we want to do or what we can do,” Saddler said.

Students can get their lock numbers at the bookstore for free.

“All the students need to do is come into the bookstore and come get a locker number and locker combination,” Coach Dawn Johnson said.

There will be consequences for the students who don’t put their skateboards away in a locker.

“If students still don’t put their skateboards in the lockers we will have to call their parents and tell them that their student can’t bring their skateboards to school anymore,” Assistant Principal of Athletics Susan Edwards said.

They will also be watched regularly so that no disturbances or theft can occur.

“No one will be watching them 24/7, but security will be on their normal route. They will keep an eye on them so no one is tampering with them,” Student Resource Officer Adam Cordova said.

Students are expected to keep their skateboards either in the lockers or up in the front office at all times on campus.
